Hill House Expands Sports Scholarship Programme
Hill House School is proud to announce an exciting development in its prestigious sports scholarship programme.
The new structure, which will start to operate for Year 7 Entrance for September 2025, will see the introduction of two distinct types of sports scholarships: Open Scholarships and Performance Scholarships, designed to provide opportunities for a wide range of children with sporting aspirations.
The Open Sports Scholarships are aimed at pupils with an exceptional talent for sport. These scholarships will cater to children who demonstrate a strong commitment to physical activity, teamwork, and general athletic ability, across a variety of sports, which are not one of the school’s ‘Performance Sports’.
Meanwhile, the newly established Performance Sports Scholarships will recognise pupils who can demonstrate outstanding talent in the school’s flagship sports: Hockey, Cricket, and Rugby. Hill House School has a proud tradition of success in these disciplines, with teams and individuals consistently excelling at both regional and national levels.
Hockey at Hill House has become a cornerstone of the school’s sporting culture, with boys' and girls' teams regularly competing in the top-tier leagues. The school’s hockey teams have secured numerous victories in inter-school competitions, with several pupils going on to represent county and national teams.
Cricket has also flourished at Hill House, with the school’s cricket teams recognised as some of the finest in the region. The school's state-of-the-art cricket facilities and expert coaching staff have produced players who have competed at elite levels, including county championships and national competitions.
Rugby, another powerhouse sport at Hill House, continues to produce formidable teams that compete in local and national tournaments. The school’s rugby programme focuses on developing not only physical ability but also leadership, resilience, and team spirit—qualities that resonate beyond the pitch.
Headmaster Mr David Holland said, "The introduction of Open and Performance Sports Scholarships ensures that Hill House remains at the forefront of both excellence and participation in sports. We recognise the value of nurturing children who love sports in general, and also the importance of supporting those who aspire to achieve greatness in our top sports. This dual approach will allow us to develop well-rounded athletes while continuing to build on our outstanding sporting legacy."
The school continues to offer its prestigious Academic Scholarships based on an entrance exam, as well as scholarships for Art, Music and Performing Arts.
