Mathematics STEM Challenge

Before the half term, the Mathematics Department set pupils a STEM challenge (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Pupils from all year groups were asked to construct a paper tower using only paper and Sellotape; exploring multiple design features that would give their towers strength. The tower had to be as tall as possible and support something on the very top whilst withstanding the force of a hairdryer and staying upright!

Pupils took pictures of their efforts producing all sorts of designs and structures with varying degrees of success and of various heights. Beatrice Barker managed to construct a tower that was almost as tall as her – this is just one of the fantastic things we have managed to do online!
