Hill House Celebrates Another Memorable Speech Day

On Wednesday (8 July), we marked the end of another successful academic year with our annual Speech Day, bringing together pupils, staff, parents and governors to celebrate the many achievements of the year.
The day began with the Junior School Prizegiving Ceremony, where pupils from Reception to Year 4 were recognised for their effort, progress and achievements throughout the academic year. Chair of Governors, Mrs Joan Fearns, reflected on another fantastic year at Hill House, highlighting the many successes enjoyed across the school community. Mr Burch spoke about the importance of embracing opportunities, while our Year 6 House Captains shared heartfelt memories and reflected on the experiences that have made this year so special.
During the lunchtime celebrations, parents were invited to enjoy lunch in the dining hall, expertly prepared by the Hill House catering team. Families also enjoyed a programme of drama and musical performances on the school lawns, while the stunning GCSE and A Level Art Exhibition showcased the creativity and talent of our senior pupils.
In the afternoon, the Senior School Prizegiving Ceremony celebrated pupils from Year 5 through to Upper Sixth, recognising academic achievement, commitment and contribution to school life. Mrs Fearns also thanked members of staff who are leaving Hill House this summer, presenting gifts as they embark on exciting new opportunities or begin a well-deserved retirement after years of dedicated service.
The ceremony concluded with reflections from Headmaster Mr Holland, before Heads of School Daisy De Roeck and Alfie Bazlinton looked back on their time at Hill House, sharing some of their most treasured memories and paying tribute to the staff, friends and wider school community who have made their journey so memorable.
Throughout the day, performances from the Hill House choirs and orchestras provided a wonderful soundtrack to the celebrations, demonstrating the exceptional musical talent that continues to thrive across the school.
As another academic year draws to a close, we would like to congratulate all of our prize winners and every pupil for the enthusiasm, determination and kindness they have shown throughout the year. We wish all members of the Hill House community a happy, restful and enjoyable summer holiday.
Although the term has ended, there is still plenty to look forward to over the summer. Our Rugby and Hockey Tour to South Africa promises to be an unforgettable experience for those taking part, while our Senior Choir and Senior Guitar Orchestra will proudly represent Hill House at the Music for Youth National Festival. We also look forward to celebrating the achievements of our Year 11 and Upper Sixth pupils on GCSE and A Level Results Days in August.
The school is also delighted to welcome Leicester Tigers back for their Rugby Camps for the second time this year, alongside another exciting programme of activities through our popular Holiday Club.
We thank everyone who has helped make this another remarkable year at Hill House School and look forward to welcoming pupils back in September for another year of learning, opportunity and success.
