Hill House U11 Boys Crowned North of England Hockey Champions

Over the Easter break, on 26 March, the Hill House Juniors’ U11 Boys delivered an outstanding performance at the U11 North of England Finals, held at Wakefield Hockey Club, emerging as deserved champions.
The team made an excellent start to the tournament with a 5–2 victory over King’s Chester. Facing a well-organised opposition, Hill House showed composure and attacking intent to secure a strong opening win.
Building on that momentum, the boys produced a clinical display in their second match, defeating Cheadle Hulme 7–0. The emphatic win not only extended their lead at the top of the table but also provided a crucial clean sheet that would later prove decisive in the final standings.
In their final game against St Peter’s, Hill House faced their toughest challenge of the day. Trailing 3–0 at half-time, the team showed tremendous resilience and determination to fight back, narrowing the scoreline to a 3–2 defeat. Despite the loss, their spirited comeback ensured a superior goal difference over St Peter’s, ultimately securing the title.
Head of Hockey, Mr Joe Barker, said: “This remarkable achievement is a testament to the team’s skill, teamwork, and perseverance throughout the competition. I am incredibly proud of the players’ efforts and their success in becoming U11 North of England Champions”!
