Pupils Celebrate Success at MUN Conference

Our pupils enjoyed a highly successful weekend at the Manchester High School for Girls' Model United Nations (MUN) conference, where they represented Italy and Jordan across a range of committees addressing challenging and urgent global issues.

Across the two-day conference, pupils demonstrated excellent research skills, diplomacy and confident public speaking while debating topics within health, social policy, environmental science and human rights. Their commitment and teamwork were reflected in an outstanding set of results at the awards ceremony.

From the 11 pupils who attended, the delegation came away with an impressive seven awards. In addition, Emily Bingley took on the prestigious role of Guest Chair on a special committee, a position of significant responsibility and recognition.

Special Mentions were awarded to Lily Waddington, Pippa Rogerson and Adesuwa Ehigie for their strong contributions to debate. Charlotte Clayton received a Commended Delegate award for her work representing Jordan on the Health and Social committee. Highly Commended Delegate awards were presented to Daisy De Roeck for Italy in Environmental Science and Hazel Chan for Jordan in Health and Social.

Aibhilín Byrne was awarded Best Young Delegate for her performance representing Jordan in the Human Rights committee, while the highest individual honour, Outstanding Delegate, was awarded to Eloise Mellors for her exceptional contribution to representing Italy in the Health and Social committee.

Congratulations to all pupils involved on a fantastic achievement and for representing the school with professionalism, confidence and enthusiasm.
