Outstanding Mathematical Achievement Recognised with Headmaster’s Award
Hill House School is delighted to recognise a group of exceptional pupils who have been awarded the Headmaster’s Award for their outstanding performances in the UK Junior Mathematical Challenge, held in May.
This national competition, run by the UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT), attracts thousands of entries from pupils across the country, testing mathematical reasoning, problem-solving and logic.
This year, four Hill House pupils achieved results in the top 5% nationally, securing coveted places in the Kangaroo follow-on round, an impressive accomplishment reflecting their mathematical talent and dedication. Even more impressively, one pupil placed in the top 1% of entrants, earning a place in the highly prestigious Junior Mathematical Olympiad.
An extra special congratulations to Samson Bell, who not only qualified for the Olympiad this year after reaching the Kangaroo round last year but also achieved Best in School in the initial challenge!
A special mention also goes to Joey Hill, who competed two years early and narrowly missed out on qualifying for the follow-on rounds by just one question. Joey’s performance was exceptional and shows great promise for future success.
The Headmaster’s Award badge, introduced in honour of Hill House being named Independent Secondary School of the Year 2025, by The Sunday Times’ Parent Power guide, recognises exceptional contributions by pupils that reflect the values and standards behind the school’s national accolade. It is awarded to pupils who demonstrate exceptional qualities and dedication to extracurricular activities.
