What began as a tournament for Under 14 girls has grown year-on-year into a highly anticipated fixture in the girls’ rugby calendar. The festival now welcomes teams across four age groups; Under 12, Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18, demonstrating both the growth of the game and Hill House School’s ongoing commitment to developing opportunities for female rugby players.

To reflect this expansion and the increasing reputation of both the tournament and Hill House School’s girls’ rugby programme, the event has been renamed as the North of England Girls 7s Festival.

The festival has become a celebration of girls’ rugby, bringing together talented young players from across the country to compete at Hill House School’s Sports Grounds in Doncaster. In March 2026, the tournament welcomed an impressive 28 teams across the four age categories, with schools travelling from far and wide to take part in a day of high-quality competition, teamwork and camaraderie.

The continued success of the festival is helping to put Doncaster and the North of England firmly on the map as a centre for girls’ rugby, providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent and inspiring the next generation of players.

“We are incredibly proud of how this festival has developed over the past five years. What started as an opportunity to provide more competitive rugby for Under 14 girls has become a nationally recognised event that brings together some of the best young rugby talent from across the country.
