Hill House School is building on its reputation as one of the leading schools for girls' sport with the launch of a brand-new competition designed to identify and celebrate the next generation of female sporting talent.
The inaugural Doncaster and District Young Sportswoman of the Year competition will take place at Hill House School, Auckley, on Friday 18 September 2026, welcoming girls entering Year 5 and Year 6 from across Doncaster and the surrounding regions.
The event comes at a time when Hill House School continues to enjoy significant success in girls' sport. Recent achievements include victory at the prestigious Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens, qualification for the U14 National Hockey Finals, and hosting the highly regarded Girls Rugby 7s Festival, which attracts talented young players from across the country.
Building on this success, the school has created a new competition that celebrates sporting excellence, determination and participation among primary-aged girls.
The competition will challenge participants across a range of activities designed to test speed, skill, agility and athletic ability. Events include Stump Throw, Ball Transfer, Netball Shots, Catch & Pass, Tackle Pads and the 15m Broad Jump.
The launch reflects the growing prominence of women's sport and the increasing number of inspirational female athletes providing role models for young people. From rugby and hockey to football, athletics and cricket, female sport has never enjoyed greater visibility, and Hill House School is committed to ensuring young girls have opportunities to develop their confidence, ambition and sporting potential.
The competition follows the success of several established Hill House School regional events, including the Cross Country Championships, Spelling Bee and Tag Rugby Competition, all of which have become popular fixtures in the local schools' calendar.
Sports Vouchers will be awarded to the top three competitors:
- £100 for 1st place
- £75 for 2nd place
- £50 for 3rd place
Entry is free and open to girls entering Year 5 or Year 6 in September 2026.
