Year 5 Enjoy Memorable Residential Trip to Kepplewray

Last week, the Year 5 pupils of Hill House Junior School enjoyed an unforgettable residential visit to Kepplewray in the beautiful Lake District.
Blessed with glorious weather throughout the trip, the children were able to make the most of every activity and experience on offer, creating many lasting memories for both pupils and staff alike.
The residential provided many opportunities for the children to demonstrate resilience and courage. Whether facing activities involving heights or water, pupils approached challenges with determination and positivity. It was particularly pleasing to see the way they supported and encouraged one another, celebrating successes together and offering reassurance when things felt difficult.
Living away from home also helped the children develop a deeper understanding of what it means to be part of a community. They practised putting others first, shared spaces thoughtfully, showed patience and took responsibility for themselves and those around them. Alongside this, pupils developed valuable practical skills such as making and stripping beds, staying organised and becoming increasingly independent.
Staff were delighted to see many pupils growing in confidence over the course of the 4-day trip, with children stepping into leadership roles by guiding others, helping friends who were struggling and setting positive examples for their peers.
Head of Junior School, Mr Burch, commented: “We were immensely proud of the children throughout their time away. Their behaviour was consistently excellent, and several members of the public at service stations, along with staff at the centre, took the time to comment on how polite, respectful and considerate our pupils were. Such unsolicited praise was greatly appreciated and reflected the values we encourage at Hill House.
Most importantly, the attitudes and qualities strengthened during the residential; resilience, confidence, independence, teamwork and perseverance, are ones that will continue to benefit the children both in school and beyond. We hope the experience has given them renewed belief in their own abilities and the confidence to tackle future challenges with determination”.
