Another Outstanding Year for Rugby at Hill House School

The Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens once again proved to be an unforgettable experience for Hill House School, with this year’s competition marking one of the most successful campaigns in the school’s rugby history.

Across six action-packed days, six teams, three girls’ and three boys’, represented the school on a national stage, competing with determination, skill and pride. With 72 players, 10 staff members, and a remarkable 26 matches played, Hill House travelled over 2,500 miles in pursuit of excellence.

The overarching story of the week was clear: another great year for rugby at Hill House School. A new benchmark has been set, with an incredible five out of six teams winning their group, highlighting the strength and depth of rugby across all age groups.

Particularly impressive was the performance of the girls’ programme. The U16 and U18 girls’ teams both progressed to Day 2 of the competition, an achievement unmatched by any other UK school, while the U14 girls reached the quarter-finals, narrowly missing out against the eventual winners. This success builds on last year’s triumph, when the U16 girls were crowned joint champions, underlining the continued growth and consistency of girls’ rugby at Hill House.

The boys’ teams also delivered outstanding performances throughout the week. The U14 and U16 boys both topped their groups with dominant displays, showcasing attacking flair and defensive resilience. Meanwhile, the U18 boys demonstrated great character and intensity against strong opposition, representing the school with pride.

Across all teams, the numbers tell a compelling story: 19 wins, 1 draw, and five group victories from six teams, an exceptional return at one of the most competitive school rugby tournaments in the country.

Beyond the results, the week was defined by teamwork, commitment, and the shared experience of competing at the highest level. Every player contributed to a memorable competition that reflects the strength of the rugby programme at Hill House School.

Congratulations to all players and staff involved for their outstanding efforts.
