'Incredible' Performance for Hill House Choir

Last week saw the Hill House Choir compete successfully at the renowned Mrs Sunderland Festival. Performing in the beautiful setting of Huddersfield Town Hall, the school provided the largest choir of the day with an impressive 82 members. Taking ‘Life’ as the theme, the Choir performed ‘The Circle of Life’ from ‘The Lion King’ followed by ‘The Rhythm of Life’ from ‘Sweet Charity’.
Head of Practical Music, Vicky Bodman said ‘we were delighted to provide not only the largest choir in the region but also the one with greatest age range, with pupils from Year 5 to Upper Sixth. Given we were competing with choirs which were largely drawn from school and community sixth formers, we were thrilled to be awarded the Bronze Medal. To hear the adjudicator describe the pupils’ performance as ‘superb’ and ‘incredible’ was testament to the hard work of all the members and staff.’
Hill House musicians have a busy half term ahead, with the Robin Hood Festival and Music For Youth, with the choir again hoping to qualify for the national finals.
