Hill House Celebrates Major Win as Forty Club Crowns Cricket School of the Year

As the battle for the Ashes begins in Australia, it was fitting that Hill House Cricket had an evening to remember at the home of cricket last weekend!

The school was delighted to be named as one of the ‘Cricket Schools of the Year’ by the prestigious Forty Club, and was presented with this honour at a special dinner held in the world-famous Long Room at Lords Cricket Ground in London. The Forty Club, which has more adult members in the world than any other club, every year plays all the leading cricket schools in Great Britain and beyond; based on factors such as sportsmanship, performance, skills, hospitality and overall presentation, the club then declares a top school for each region.

This year’s Hill House Captain, Jacob Ellam, was delighted to be presented with this year’s award for the East Midlands at the gala dinner. Mr Sam Owen, Director of Cricket, was thrilled with the recognition for the school, saying: "Cricket at Hill House has been really going places in recent years, including the building of our new pavilion, the introduction of regular overseas tours, and multiple selections for Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. The annual fixture with the Forty Club is one of the great highlights of the season, and we were delighted to be able to share the evening with so many of their members. We look forward to Jacob leading another successful season this year."
