Farewell for now, to the Upper Sixth!

On Friday, Hill House marked a significant milestone as the Upper Sixth pupils concluded their time in school before heading into study leave for their A Level examinations. While their daily presence at school may now pause, we look forward to welcoming them back for upcoming events including Speech Day, the Prom, their examinations, and Results Day.

Over the past two years, the Upper Sixth have contributed immensely to the life of the school. Their Sixth Form journey has been marked by a wealth of experience, from academic successes and super-curricular pursuits to sporting triumphs and memorable adventures. Highlights of their time include an unforgettable trip to Disneyland Paris, a sports tour to South Africa, and the successful completion of the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. These moments, alongside everyday experiences such as learning to drive, snowball fights, and dancing at the Snowball, have shaped both their individual characters and collective identity.

Academically, this year group has exemplified dedication and intellectual curiosity. Many have achieved national recognition in essay competitions, represented the school in public speaking and debate, and consistently set high standards through their commitment to learning. Their achievements are a testament to their perseverance and love of knowledge.

Beyond the classroom, their contribution to school life has been extensive. On the sports field, they have demonstrated resilience, teamwork, and skill, often in challenging conditions. In the performing arts, they have captivated audiences, inspired peers, and enriched the cultural life of Hill House through music, theatre, and behind-the-scenes leadership.

Perhaps most notably, the Upper Sixth have led with kindness, humour, and integrity. Their thoughtful gestures, warm interactions, and community spirit have left a lasting impression. Whether offering a kind word, supporting one another through challenges, or simply bringing energy and joy to everyday moments, they have embodied the values Hill House seeks to instil in its pupils.

On Friday, we marked their final day with an afternoon of celebration, including croquet, cricket, rounders, and traditional scones. It was an afternoon filled with fun and laughter.

Hill House School extends its heartfelt thanks to the Upper Sixth for their many contributions over the years. The school is immensely proud of all they have achieved and confident in the bright futures that lie ahead. As they prepare to take their next steps beyond Hill House, they do so with the full support and warmest wishes of the entire school community.
