Music Workshop: Composition through Improvisation

This is a FREE event for Year 9 children looking to study GCSE Music and beyond!

Having studied at Guildhall School of Music and Drama as well as going on to study in Milan and Hanover, Adam has since worked with most UK orchestras and chamber orchestras as well as being an active Chamber Musician. He is passionate about contemporary music and has a particular interest in the use of improvisation in composition – leading him to take a serious involvement in music education. He currently teaches Cheetham’s School of Music.

This free event is perfect for pupils from Year 9 upwards who are considering studying music at GCSE level and beyond and will focus on elements of composition with valuable guidance from Adam himself and the opportunity for questions.

Adam will focus on composition through improvisation. Explore how, by using simple rhythmic and harmonic frameworks and structures, groups can create effective pieces and sound worlds. Discover that, whatever your musical background, improvisation is accessible and achievable.
