Lent Soiree

The Hill House Music department have certainly been keeping busy during lockdown and this week was no exception. Following weeks of fabulous remote spotlight performances, published on Friday lunchtimes, they also treated us to a wonderful musical soiree this week.

On Wednesday evening Hill House families settled down to watch some of our incredibly talented musicians and singers perform. Year 11’s Farhan Khan began proceedings with a rendition of “Pavana Por La D” on his guitar, followed by Lower Sixth’s Emma Robinson singing “Somewhere Only We Know”. Next up was flautist Olivia Willis, Year 10, performing “Sonatine”.

It was a welcome return for former Head Boy, Joe Orme, now studying at the Royal College of Music, who wowed us with “La Catedral” on the guitar. Anya Goel sang “Don’t Tell Mama” before Ben Joshi performed “Guilmant Morceau de Concert” on the trombone. The concert was brought to a close by the Jazz Orchestra, with an upbeat performance of “Dancing in the Street”.

The event was a fabulous display of the hard work of our pupils and staff. Hopefully, it won’t be too long before we can enjoy some live performances again!
