Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh

Well done to those Year 11 and Upper Sixth pupils who have completed their Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh award qualifiers over the last four weekends.

Despite current restrictions meaning their usual expeditions had to be brought closer to home, Mrs Frisby, our Duke of Edinburgh Coordinator, made sure that the pupils still had an authentic experience, setting up camp on the school sports field.

The pupils trekked the local areas, making the most of the incredible countryside that we have on our doorstep, including Hatfield, the Isle of Axholme, Misson, Gringley on the Hill and Auckley.

Mrs Frisby, said, “It is wonderful to see the pupils donning their walking boots again. I am so proud of the incredible effort of all involved!”

Headmaster David Holland added, 'it is such a shame that so many groups and schools have not been able to complete their programmes this year; I am delighted that the ingenuity and hard work of colleagues has allowed this year's Hill House groups to complete their awards as planned.'

Thanks must go to the staff who made these expeditions possible, giving up their weekends to enable our students to achieve the expedition section of the award, in particular Mrs Frisby, Mr Hirst, Mrs Lowe, Mr Barnett, Mrs Thomas, Mr Fox, Mrs McCrea, Mr Holland and Manie and Eddie from our Facilities team.
